Everything You Need to Know
When is the best time to visit Kenya?
The best time to visit Kenya depends on what you’d like to experience:
For wildlife viewing and the Great Wildebeest Migration, the dry seasons (June–October and January–March) are ideal. Animals gather around water sources, making them easier to spot.
If you prefer fewer crowds and lower prices, consider the shoulder season in November or the “green season” from April–May. Though rainier, the landscapes are lush, and it’s excellent for birdwatching.
For beach holidays and diving, October–April offers prime conditions, with January–March being particularly favorable.
What can I expect from a safari with African Safaris Experts?
Expect a seamless, high-end experience combining thrilling wildlife encounters with comfortable, hand-picked lodges and professional local guides. Every detail is curated—from scenic game drives in private 4×4 vehicles to cultural visits with local tribes and personalized service throughout the journey.
Can I personalize my safari and beach itinerary?
Absolutely. All our trips are fully customizable. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, family, or private group—we tailor every element to your interests, including dates, accommodations, pace, and even special experiences like hot air balloon rides or beach dinners in Zanzibar.
Will I see the Big Five in Kenya?
Yes! Kenya is one of the best places in the world to spot the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. Iconic reserves like the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, and Ol Pejeta Conservancy offer excellent opportunities to see all five in their natural habitat. While sightings can never be guaranteed (that’s the beauty of a true safari!), experienced guides know the best areas and times to maximize your chances — often achieving a “Big Five” checklist in just a few days.
Is Kenya safe for travelers?
Yes — Kenya is generally safe for travelers, particularly in the well-known safari destinations such as the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, and Samburu, as well as along the Diani and Watamu beaches. Tourism is a major industry, and security is taken seriously in national parks, conservancies, and lodges. As with any international trip, it’s best to take normal precautions: avoid isolated areas after dark in cities, keep valuables secure, and always follow your guide’s instructions on safari. Most visitors enjoy a safe, seamless, and unforgettable experience.
Do I need a visa to enter Kenya?
Yes — most visitors require an eVisa to enter Kenya. The process is quick and fully online through the official eVisa portal. It’s recommended to apply at least a week before travel, though approval often takes just a couple of days. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates, and you’ll need a return or onward ticket. Upon approval, you’ll receive a digital confirmation to present at immigration on arrival.
What should I pack for my safari and Diani stay?
For safari, pack lightweight, loose-fitting clothing in neutral colors like khaki, green, or brown. A fleece or light jacket is recommended for cooler mornings and evenings.
- For comfort and convenience, bring toiletries, high-SPF sunscreen, insect repellent, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and comfortable closed-toe shoes.
- For your Diani beach stay, remember swimwear. We also suggest a camera, binoculars, and travel adapters. Please note that soft-sided bags are often best for internal flights, and be mindful of luggage weight limits.
